Flow Traders is a proprietary trading firm that focuses on making markets in exchange-traded products, mainly ETFs, but also other exchange-traded notes and commodities. It was founded in Amsterdam in 2004 by two former Optiver traders, at a time when European ETF markets were still young and often had wide, inefficient spreads. Flow Traders built its business on technology that lets it continuously quote buy and sell prices for thousands of listings across exchanges in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific, earning income from the spread and from managing the associated risk.
