The organisation
What EQT does
EQT is a global investment organisation founded in Stockholm in 1994, originally backed by Swedish investors including Investor AB. It has grown from its Nordic private equity roots into a broader alternative investment manager, active across private equity, infrastructure, real estate and other strategies, and it is listed on the stock exchange. EQT invests in companies it believes can grow sustainably over the medium to long term, working closely with management teams during its ownership period. The firm operates from offices across Europe, North America and Asia, including Amsterdam.

EQT in the Netherlands
EQT has an office in Amsterdam that forms part of its European network of local deal teams. As with other large global private equity firms, the Amsterdam office should be seen as a focused, senior deal team working on Benelux and broader European transactions, not as a large-scale local employer. It offers a route into a genuinely international private equity career from a Dutch base, but for a small number of highly selective roles.
Structure
Divisions and where you work
EQT organises its work around investment strategies (such as private equity, infrastructure and real estate) and, within those, around sector and regional teams. Local offices like Amsterdam host deal teams that identify, execute and manage investments in their region, supported by central investment committees and shared functions. Finance graduates who join typically start as analysts or associates within one of these deal teams.
Getting in
How students start here
EQT recruits centrally for its analyst and associate programmes across its European offices, and these are competitive, often drawing candidates with prior experience in investment banking or consulting rather than offering large-scale direct entry from university. Internships are available in some offices and can be a way in for students, but permanent investment roles in Amsterdam are limited in number.
