What MUFG Bank does

MUFG Bank is part of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Japan's largest financial group, headquartered in Tokyo. The current group was formed through a series of mergers of Japanese banking houses with histories going back to the 19th and early 20th centuries, most notably the 2005 merger that created Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. MUFG is one of the largest banks in the world by assets, active in commercial banking, trust banking and securities across Asia, the Americas and Europe. Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

MUFG Bank in the Netherlands

MUFG chose Amsterdam in 2017 as the location for its new EU banking subsidiary, MUFG Bank (Europe) N.V., in order to keep serving EU clients after the United Kingdom left the European Union and the bank could no longer rely on passporting rights from London. Amsterdam now functions as the hub in MUFG's European hub-and-spoke model, handling capital, risk management, regulatory reporting and back-office processing for its European branch network. For finance students, this means an office focused on corporate and investment banking, risk and finance functions supporting European clients.

Divisions and where you work

MUFG Bank (Europe) N.V. in Amsterdam is organised around corporate and investment banking coverage for European clients, alongside risk, finance, treasury and regulatory functions that support the wider European branch network from the Amsterdam hub. Finance graduates typically join through coverage, risk or finance teams.

How students start here
