The organisation
What NIBC Bank does
NIBC Bank was founded in 1945 by the Dutch government and a group of commercial banks and institutional investors, originally to help finance the country's post-war economic recovery. Over the decades it evolved into a corporate and merchant bank, with activities in corporate lending, savings, mortgages and financing for sectors such as commercial real estate and infrastructure. NIBC was listed on Euronext Amsterdam in 2018 before being acquired by private equity firm Blackstone in 2020. In late 2025, ABN AMRO agreed to acquire NIBC from Blackstone, a deal expected to complete during the course of 2026.
